For some time now we have been tossing around the idea of starting another shop and blog. At first it was going to be a Brick and Mortar shop but we thought it would be best to start on line first ....especially with the tone of the economy. A lot of overhead is involved in a high end flower shop!

This week we went live with a brand new Etsy shop and blog. Granted it is bare-bones at the moment, we will be listing several more items in the next few days.
Our focus is going to be special events and weddings and most of the frills that go with them. Botanico & Company offers complete Bridal party packages,including bouquets,bouts,and decor. Using silk and preserved flowers combined with wonderful vintage finds makes unique one-of-a-kind treasures. Many pieces are made and ready to ship...but special orders are more than welcome.

Snowflake Festival 2010

This past Saturday was a day to remember. My son, daughter in law, granddaughter and I all spent the day at the Jamestown(NY) Audubon Snowflake Festival. The day was perfect except for the windchill, which made it hard to have our toddler out for any length of time...but we kept dodging into the buildings to get warm. This was made for the kid in all of us. So many fun things to do for young and old. The festival is just one of many things the Audubon offers the public...it's one of my favorite places to go birding.

Here is just a peek of a few things we did.

Adriana and I checking out the Alpacas....they are just so cute!! (that is me in the middle in the blue coat holding the little lady)
This is Liberty, a non-releasable Bald Eagle that has a home at the Audubon...she really is a beauty!

This beautiful Snowy Owl is a female that can not be released. She is used for education.

We enjoyed our ride around the Audubon thanks to our wonderful "horsey" friends. I think this was Adriana's favorite part.

......THE SMART WAY TO WEAR A SCARF!

I have to admit this is probably one of the easiest items to use on your dog and cat. I never really cared for the tie bandanas simply because of the knot and my little dog would always chew on the ends.
I make these so the collar slips through the channel and fits neatly around the neck.

I make them out of cotton and flannel cotton,they wash nicely and are reversible. I make them in 4 different sizes starting with x-small which are great for cats(I put a little jingle bell on the cat scollars), puppies and tea-cup and very small dogs.

Moon Beams and Oak Trees

I just had to share this beautiful pic of the full moon that graced our world the past couple nights. You could actually see the pink ring around it waiting for the snow. The temp outside was like -10 with the windchill, but I just had to go out and snap this...just to beautiful to let go by!

JANUARY THAW

A little break from winter comes about this time every year, we refer to it as "The January Thaw". Some years it's a bit more than others but still a welcome tradition. It usually comes about the same time as the seed catalogs and the days are starting to get a little bit longer. Personally I think God does this just to tease us because it only takes a day or two for reality to sink back in.

A couple days ago,before all the rain, there was a foot of snow on the ground and several inches in the trees....

The forecast for tomorrow is snow and in the teens but it was nice to see just a little peek of green,even though it is tainted with brown.

The sky is a stark reminder that winter is still with us even though our thoughts try to evade it.

So in my little corner of Northwest Pa I'm satisfied to sit back and let the seasons take their course and enjoy the ups and downs just as they have since the beginning of time. But you can bet I'll be waiting for Maple Syrup season ...and with that comes bitter cold nights and warmer days and "sugar snow". The trade off is one of God's best ideas :)

SWEET TWEET WRISTLET

Finally got around listing something else in my Zibbet shop!

My SWEET TWEET wristlets have been so popular in the past in my Etsy shop I decided to try them in Zibbet.

I am going to make up more today...some with appliques and some with painted birds...and in several different sizes...either way they are cute. I love wristlets to keep all the "little things" that get lost in the bottom of the purse, or to use alone.

I try to make them out of vintage fabrics when I have it.... even zippers are upcycled ...no 2 are alike which makes them even more special.

HAND PRINTED DOUBLE DUTY APRON

If you are looking for something special either as a gift or a nice present for yourself you should consider my new apron. I made it reversible and one side I had stenciled it using acrylic fabric paint and a hand crafted stencil that I made.

I just love the print side of this one...cute white branches set on a light tan back ground...just so pretty!

WONDER-FUL CHOCOLATE CAKE

Years ago a dear friend of mine gave me her family recipe. She told me that when she was young growing up on a farm in Potter Co. Pennsylvania they often had to cut corners.

Though they had chickens,there were times when they did not lay their eggs, or they needed them to sell. Her mom would make this chocolate cake as a special treat. Later in life one of her children had egg allergies as does my little granddaughter. This recipe is just wonderful...and you can not tell it is void of eggs. So moist and the texture is wonderful. So much better than the standard box mixes...and the thing is you know what is in it!

I love topping it off with my Peanut butter frosting...or you can use something simple like a can of cherry pie filling...but it is so moist you really don't need anything!

I thought I would share the recipe with you...

Sift together: 3 cups unbleached flour

2 cups sugar

6 tbls dry cocoa

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

Add and beat for 2 minutes with dry ingredents:

2/3 cup veg. oil

2 tbls vinegar

2 cups cold water

Pour into a greased 9x12 inch pan

Bake on 350 for 35-40 minutes

ENJOY!

DOUBLE DUTY APRON

I make several styles of aprons and this reversible one has to be one of my favorites....like having two aprons in one! It is very comfortable and has a nice weight with the double layer of 100% cotton. The length falls to the middle thigh and ties either in the front or the back at the waist and around the neck.
I usually choose to do a solid side and a print side. This one I put a embroidered applique but pockets are also a option.
These are perfect for the chef,stylist,pet groomer,gardener,artist,crafter...the list could go on and on.
I also make matching cotton dish towel and oven mitts that make this the perfect gift to give or keep for yourself.

I really did not know what to expect from this new gadget, but I am very pleased with how it preforms! A lot of options come with the kit and you have the ability to add to that. I will use it mostly for tags and personal things like my daughters up coming wedding....but you never know! You can find more info about the Slice machine on their site.

I LOVE THIS COWL! In fact I almost didn't list it because this is the only piece of the fabric I have. I have had it tucked in my stash for years and just didn't know what to do with it...well I hope you like the results as much as I do!
The flower is wonderful upcycled wool sweaters and the center bead is actually hand made..I bought is a few years ago from another Etsy seller.

It is sooooooo warm and soft you really won't want to take it off! Seriously!

IT'S A WRAP

This turned out better than I thought! It's the perfect weight to wear over a sweater or jacket. In fact I am sitting here with it wrapped around my shoulders as I am doing this post. The silk keeps the texture of the wool off your neck and chin.
Even though it is a light blue I would consider it neutral because of the rich yummy moss brown silk lining.

Soft and warm are the best words to describe this OOAK upcycled wrap. The light blue tweed wool is from a vintage (1970's) skirt,the dark mossy brown silk lining is new fabric. I added a wavy stitching detail out of metallic thread.
Adding the carrier helps keep the wrap in place.
A wonderful vintage broach would be a nice added detail.

I would suggest either dry cleaning or washing in cold water on delicate and air drying.

Wrap measures 21x54 It would easily fit up to a large.

After being away for some time I have finally re-opened my Etsy shop! I have decided I don't want to deal with the gov't and will be offering products for adults as well as teens/tweens and even pets. I guess you could say it is what ever strikes my fancy.

I have listed a few things already but will be adding more this next week.

I constructed and hand painted this great little top out of soft cotton knit in a rich crimson color. It is gathered to give it a relaxed look.

Well I've been away for a bit trying to decide what I'm going to do...well, as you can see this is what I have decided on...DOGGIE FASHIONS! What do you think?? I am busy making some up for a local boutique already but hope to get some listed on Etsy soon. Like my children's clothes they are high quality, unique and fun. Your best friend will be the best dressed in town!
Please tell me what you think...I am open for ideas!

This is my little lady Kelsie, she is not to sure about being a model, but she did pretty good.

OLE MAN WINTER....

....Is a bit grumpy at the moment wouldn't you say? The -25 deg.(yes I said negative 25) clipper and lake effects remind me of when I was a kid and didn't know the technical terms for what was happening, all I knew was I had to stand out in the freezing awful cold in a dress because we couldn't wear pants then...and oh my gosh the thought of closing school was out of the question!
No I didn't have to walk 10 miles in the freezing cold with holes in my boots but dang riding a bus that wasn't heated was no fun either!

So as I sit in my nice warm house writing this post I think of those who are not as fortunate as we are. I pray they are finding safety from this cold.

But alas, this is January and it is suppose to be like this, at least in NW Pa...winter has a beauty all it's own and I urge you to just take a moment to find it. If you don't live where there is such frozen beauty I have posted a couple pics for you to enjoy. This is the view from my little corner of the world.

In keeping with the times...so to speak... I am busy coming up with new creations for my customers. In the process I am hoping to pick up a few more by offering a larger variety of items.
I am starting by offering for sale some wool felted cuties...these will sure bring a smile to your face or that special friend you might want to surprise. These little guys cover a variety of collector criteria, such as felted,polar bears,teddy bears,minitures,owl,bird,natural etc.

They are all my own patterns and sculpted by me and me alone (just ask my fingers) haha...all are one of a kind. I can make them to look alike but none will be exact to the others.

I'm still trying to decided what fits me best...I just signed up last night to Twitter...and I really don't know what I'm doing but I'm slowing figuring it out.

On another note, I have decided to fill the void of having my RIGHT taken away of making children's clothing. I use to make collector teddy bears and dolls...for adults only and for kids 12 yrs and older (I guess we have to say that now),I use mohair and vintage furs for the bears and the dolls are usually made from vintage linens and such. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be going back to this! But as I stated my RIGHT has been taken away from me (and millions like me).I know some will say I still have the "right" to make items for children under 12 but in reality I don't. Imposing all these regulations on a free society is wrong...yes I agree some steps should be taken but those steps should be pointed at China...not law abiding Americans! CLAMP DOWN ON CHINA NOT US!

ONE STEP CLOSER?....I ASK YOU....

Well here we go...I am posting this with a very heavy heart...one because EVERYONE will be affected by what our government has done. And two...our nation as we know it will no longer be. In my humble opinion it is One Step Closer To a Socialistic Country.I know that sounds a bit harsh but when you do your home work and look into what is going on you might question it too.

After Feb 9, 2008 thousands and possibly millions will have to close their business doors and become unemployed...and in todays economy this is a nightmare! I know finger pointing is not, well, a nice thing to do and what is done is done, but I am not going to sit by and not voice my opinion.

In a nutshell,the new law will demand EVERY single thing that is intended for children under 12 will have to be tested for lead...costing in the thousands...for everyone who sells or makes anything for children. If you sell on ebay, Etsy, your own website,boutiques,wholesale, even craft fairs and yes garage sales! Goodwill and Salvation Army will not be permitted to re-sell ANY child related item. The "trickle down" impact will be huge! Educational materials will also need to be tested!

The lawmakers ran with this without any regard to what it will do to America. I urge everyone to contact their state and federal congressmen...anyone you can think of...I been sending this to the media all day...and yet nothing from anyone...but I am not going to give up, this is our country and we need to take a stand! Even if you don't think this involves you think again!

I'm Back....sort of :)

After many weeks of looking at boxes,packing tape and newspapers, I am finally getting settled in. Our move went smoothly and we had wonderful help (my sister,brother-in-laws)....needless to say we kept saying "WHO'S JUNK IS THIS ANYWAY?"!...hubby just can't believe I can not part with the scraps of fabric and lace and ribbons...they just don't get it do they? (hehe)

I have taken a part time job in a local flower shop...it felt good to get my hands on some flowers again...it's been a long time and I didn't realize how much I missed it!

I will be listing some things on Etsy in the next few weeks...I have some other orders to do now that I have found my sewing machine and in the process of setting up my work space.

In the mean time I need to go do some shoveling...yes it's winter here in the hills of Northwest Pa....but I love it...after all it's suppose to snow this time of year.

Normally I do not get into politics on my blog...even though I am a junkie. I know how I feel about things and that is what is important to me. I have known for some time who I will be supporting in this upcoming election based on my convictions and standards.
The events of the past few days have just really pushed me to say something.

I feel we are at a cross roads in America...due to a lot of factors...but in my opinion it is nothing that God does not have His hand in. If you go back in our history you will see that today's political season is no different from the rest. There is however one major factor...the media. I could say a lot of things on how I feel the media has treated some of the candidates, Republican and Democrat, while giving others complete passes and not holding them accountable. I have just excepted it as "well consider the source" type of attitude, but no longer. With Sen. McCain's choice of Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate we saw something beyond the point of disbelief! I just could not believe my ears and eyes...some were so terrible I found myself standing in front of my computer or tv and just shaking my head and frankly yelling at the reporters!
I'm sure most of you know what I am talking about..and I am sure some of you agree with the media's handling of Mrs. Palin....but I'm sorry, when they start smearing and dragging her(or anyone else's) children through the mud that crosses the line. Every family has trials and issues and her's is no different, they are human...it's how you handle these trials is whats important. I feel the Palin family is handling all the negativity with grace...I applaud them!

The personal attacks on Gov. Palin have been nothing short of pathetic...even though I understand she is fair game they are really pushing the envelope. But I will defend their right to say it.

I could go on and on about the things that have gone on and been said the past few days...but I won't....I will spare you...I pray these people will just stop and think before they trash the candidates children...especially minor children...maybe these people don't have kids or don't realize they have feelings too...(or they don't remember they were children once themselves)...

To quote Bett Middler "God IS watching us!"

A NEW POST FINALLY!!!

Well hello everyone! Where did the summer go? I just can not believe summer is almost over...but it happens every year at this time.

I have a quote from a little bird, Tweetie bird that is, "Things change fast as often things do in the little oak tree right across from the zoo." Even though it comes from a children's book it is so true in our lives. This summer has been one of change to say the least. The latest in those changes is that we have bought a new house in the town my husband work in. This will save him 2 hrs of drive time everyday..not to mention the gas money! The move will be bitter-sweet,we have been in our "starter" home for 28 years! 28 years of wonderful memories (and stuff!)raising our 3 wonderful children and all the ups and downs that families have...but we would not change a thing. It will be a wonderful new adventure in this chapter of our lives. I will be starting a new position (part time) as a florist in a wonderful shop...I felt it was a great way to meet people in the town.

Our new house :)

In the mean time I am having a MOVING SALE in my Etsy shop...all my prices have been reduced and I would love to sell these item so I don't have to move them! Swing by and see if something tickles your fancy...remember Christmas is coming :)

How did it pop into God's head to create something so awesome..
Why did He do it...(maybe because He loves us)
and What If He didn't share or give us the knowledge and desire to know about these wonderful creations...
In my little world I look at things through Thankful eyes...and know that I am being a steward of God's creations.

I have long been a huge fan of CICADA STUDIO..Michelle does a wonderful job of putting together some of the greatest colors and prints for her fabrics that I have seen. So very unique and fresh...I had a hard time deciding what to get this time but I opted for the Autumn-Winter Sampler. I have a couple things in mind what I'm going to do but one thing is for sure I AM KEEPING IT FOR MYSELF! Hahah...
Her new line makes it possible to decorate your whole house...not to mention you can make wonderful purses, totes or whatever your heart desires.

What can I say...there is no greater "Fingerprint" than the face of an angel! My little love is almost 7 months old and she is the joy of our lives. I just can not get enough of her...but she lives 6 hrs away so when we are there I am pretty selfish with her. :)

FINGERPRINT FRIDAY

After a crazy couple weeks things are almost ready to slow down. Well that's my plan anyway.
But things don't always go the way we plan them....and in the mist of all the emotions,the joy,the stress,the tears,and the disappointments we always know that God's plan is bigger than our own. In His own quite way He is always trying to tell us something...we just need to really listen to what He is saying.

As my children were growing up I would sit and wonder what it was going to be like when they became adults and making their own choices...well now I know...they are all grown up and making their way in this world. Our youngest graduated last week from college and will now be working in NYC....I am soooo proud of him,(they actually held a job open until he graduated!)but that still isn't enough to keep this mom's heart from aching.

Our daughter is going through a rough time in her life right now..but by God's grace she is pushing forward...it is amazing how God shows us our true strength.

You see nothing goes as we "plan" it...only one holds the future in His Hands.

We are starting to see how God has worked in all the tension and stress...He is in every detail of our lives...we just have to realize it...

So this is my Fingerprint Friday thought....I am post it from my daughter's computer in DC...nothing fancy today...we have been moving her and her brother that lives here with his wife and baby...so now I am sore but my spirits are high knowing this was all apart of God's wonderful plan.

I had this thing full when I was taking the pictures,and there was still room!

Talk about GOING GREEN!!...The ultimate market tote! Everything used in the construction is from upcycled fabrics. Vintage linens were used to create this wonderful ONE OF A KIND market tote/bag.
A wonderful very retro linen dish cloth was used for the whimsical front pocket. The lining and the body are from vintage Irish linen tablecloths.
The wonderful well worn feel is great!
I have made a wristlet to attach to the tote...no need to carry your purse...just fill the wristlet with your cell phone,credit cards and cash.
The wide strap makes is comfy on the shoulder...it is long enough to put over your head to wear on either side.

Measurements: aprox. 18 x 16 inches with a 3 inch gusset..
strap is 2 inches wide.

My grandma always had a beautiful garden when I was growing up. I share her love of it in many ways. I really don't know what I would do if I couldn't get my hands in the dirt. I go through many pairs of garden gloves during the growing season...yikes.

Grandma had a saying and to this day I live by it.

"Who plants a seed beneath the sod, and waits to see believes in God"

It's early here in Western Pa but within the next few weeks I'll be filling the garden up with all kinds of goodies....I'll keep you posted on the progress.

THE DAWN CHORUS for Fingerprint Friday

I just had to share with you the beauty of living in the country. For the past few mornings I have woke up to the most beautiful "Symphony of sounds that can ever be heard" or better known as THE DAWN CHORUS
I just stand out there and listen to the wonder of God...and thank Him for giving us perfection in such a way man cannot begin to duplicate.

It is said the high pitch of the songs actually wakes up the nectar in the flowers and brings the bugs to life.

God thought of all the sections of the orchestra..from the FLUTE to the Drums...with the WOODWIN and the BRASS SECTION chiming in.

OHHHH...so many things...one is the sun..have you noticed it's higher in the sky...the birds are in the air and the breeze is turning warmer...
Here's some of what Spring is bringing "out" at my house..

...THE WATER BREAKS THROUGH THE ICE AND FLOWS AGAIN...

THE PUSSYWILLOWS PEEK THEIR HEADS OUT AND ARE WAITING TO BURST WITH THE BRILLIANT WAXY GREEN LEAVES...

THE FLOWERS ARE READY TO OPEN THEIR PETALS TO THE SUN...

AND YES..........

THE BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!...OH MY.. AND THEY ARE HUNGRY....LEAVING NOTHING FOR THE BIRDS FOR BREAKFAST....THEY HAD QUITE THE MEAL IN THE COMPOST BIN TOO...
(We decided it must be a mommy bear and baby due to the size of the little paw print in the garden)...

So in the end one can say "Yes Virginia, there is a God"! He brings forth all things new just as He promised.

Hopefully you to can get out and enjoy what Spring brings out...it is quite amazing that there really is a "Plan" for everything!

My question is:
IS THERE A MARKET FOR TWEENS AND TEENS BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES???
what I have in mind is lounge wear and fun items such as my Pantaloni,skirts,boxers etc.

I would love some comments about how you feel about this...I searched Etsy and there is basically NOTHING for this age group...should I offer to fill some of this void?

ANTIQUE BEAUTIES

Ohhh if these pieces could talk! I am sure they would have quite the story to tell!
My niece brought me a box full of excitement over Easter weekend that her mother-in-law gave her from the attic of her house. I know to some these would be just old pieces full of holes but to me they are truly awesome.

The red piece is an antique Japanese Kimono from the 1800's...picutures do not do it justice...the colors are still vibrant after a century of being stored in the attic.The sheer weight of this is amazing...I'm still trying to figure out how such small people could even carry such a garment!

The other two pieces are like a wrap skirt made from Japanese silk...Erin said they believe these are from the 1920's....these are in pretty good shape and I will be able to create some wonderful purses and wristlets. The detail is stunning and very well crafted...I just can not wait to start creating some wonderful one of a kind creations from these beautiful pieces.

If you ask me what the best sound in the world is I have to say it's my baby granddaughter Adriana's sweet laugh....but coming in second is the wonderful soft sound of "our" male bluebird (we named)Rambo!

I was just outside and something caught my attention...it was the song of spring...high atop the tree,letting me know he is back and ready for some grub...the live yucky kind. As I dig in the dirt planting my garden I find grubs for him and lay them on the ground and he will come and snatch them up with me standing right there!
Although it will be some time before that happens(my garden is still buried under 8 inches of snow!)he will make his presences know by his soft song and the sun dancing off his sapphire blue feathers.

One of natures most beautiful creations hands down!

Lion or Lamb??

So what did March come in as in your part of the country?? I think you can guess what it came in here in Smethport Pa...This is a picture out my back window...and you could say "Baby it's cold outside"! But one thing March does signal is that the end is near...winter that is:)

My grandma use to call these late winter storms "SUGAR SNOWS"...living here in Northwest Pa we are so blessed with thousands and thousands of Maple trees as well (as other hardwoods.) With the sun coming out during the day and the temps dropping at night it makes for perfect Maple syrup conditions....it is one of my all time favorite memories making syrup with my uncle...

We actually consider it another season around here....across the state line in Portville Ny the Sprague
family has built an empire around the sweet liquid...You can actually watch them make the syrup right in the building!

Well now I'm hungry for some Pure Maple syrup so I better go get the pancakes going!

I first met Nathalie when she bought a pair of my Pantaloni for her little love. Several weeks later we are still "talking" and have become Etsy friends.

When I first saw her little tutu's I just could not believe how cute they were...and different from the norm. The bright colors and accent ribbons just make them so festive and cheery...a must for every little lady to dream of being on the big stage some day.

THE BAMBINO BUNDLE

The other day when my daughter said "I need a baby shower gift!" I thought well why not put a few of my best selling items together in one bundle...and that is how I came up with THE BAMBINO BUNDLE...translated means THE BABY BUNDLE :)
Each bundle will have either Pantaloni or Gonna (pants of skirt) a hat or headband and a bib and burp cloth. All wrapped together with a brown satin ribbon and placed in a tulle bag that is tied at the top with a baby blue ribbon. It is all ready for gift giving! How easy is that :)

I will be listing more in the next several days for baby girls,boys and unisex.

ADRIANA'S FIRST VALENTINE'S DAY

My little love will be 3 months old on Valentine's Day! It's just hard to believe...so in honor of her very first Valentine's Day I made her this sweet little outfit, with her very first pair of Pantaloni. I teamed it up with a little jacket and headband...I can't wait to see her in it :)

As far as Valentines Day goes...I was a florist for years...the day was always bitter sweet. We would get all excited for the sales and the great boost in revenue, but it always came at a price, sore fingers,sore feet and sore bones! By the end of the day, a rose is still a rose, but there is no rose as beautiful as my sweet baby's face!

I just had to tell everyone that the wonderful site ETSY hit over 8 MILLION! That's right peeps... 8.6 MILLION views in 1 DAY!

January 21st, 2008...We're pleased to share with you that yesterday was Etsy's biggest day ever — in terms of site traffic.

8.6 MILLION page views in one day!

That is a lot of clicking going on out there...This is such great news and the ETSY team and shop owners should be doing a happy dance.
If you haven't visited Etsy you really should...what a treat and you will never have to leave your house again to shop! Just think of all the gas money you will save that you can spend on Etsy...stop by and register thats it...so easy!

I'M CLEANING HOUSE!

Fear not...I'm not really cleaning I'm just DESTASHING my stash of stuff! In the next few weeks I will be listing in my Etsy shop some wonderful vintage fabrics and trims ...most of which are new and have never been used. It will be hard to part with some of these treasures but I just have to.We put in new cabinets in my sewing room and I am determined to fit everything in them...so my loss will be your gain.

Please keep checking my shop to see the newest listings. I could probably list for 6 months and still have stuff left!

Translation...DAY PANTS! I decided to come up with a comfy easy to wear pants design for babies and toddlers, after all they deserve to be comfortable during the day as well as night. I made these extra roomy for those busy little legs to feel free in. Using super soft fabric just adds to the wonderful comfort.
All are made with double stitched inseam and washer friendly fabric.

Wonderful Winter!

Yes winter is here and true to form...IT'S COLD! Nothing unusual though, after all January is suppose to be cold.

Even though the brilliant blue sky looks warm and inviting reality soon hits as the brisk air hits your face when you pass from the warmth of the house to the outside. I have to say I LOVE IT! Being outside in the winter is sometimes short lived but it is a fix I need.
I just can't see myself living where the snow doesn't fall and the temps stay above 50.

Soon there will be a "January thaw" and will take the snow away but then the wild weather of Feb. will be upon us and bring winters reality back.

It's been awhile since I posted...I have been so busy with orders I just have not had a chance to post anything. With that said I would like to continue my Cast Team features...

I started making soap right before 9/11, as a project with my goddaughter and her friend. I then made a few flag soaps, took them to work and they sold ! I was hooked !
My ideas come to me from God and the things around me. I'm always looking at things to see if it would make a cute soap. I hope they bring a little "happy" to those who receive them !

Ex-hippies in life style, we have bought some land to grow organic food and flowers while we are so blessed to enjoy God's glory revealed there. Well for months now I've been telling you I'm going to be a GRANNY....well I don't have to wait any longer because SHE IS HERE!!!
Born yesterday Nov.14th weighing in at 6lb 130z...she is having a few little complications but the Dr's feel she will be fine.

We will be going down (they live in the DC area and we live in NW Pa...6 hrs apart)next week and I just cannot wait to get my hands on her!! I do believe she needs Granny kisses!

A Huge Hit!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that my box of vintage fabric and zippers would be such a hit! BUT THEY ARE! I can't make them fast enough...
Sweet people sit and wait for me to list :) ... as Martha would say "It's a good thing".

I would like to take this time to thank all of you who have purchased one(or more) so far and would like to tell those who missed out that more are on the way ;)

Time Warp?

Ok so I have these great fabric swatches...I use to work in a furniture store way back when...the fabric styles will tell the date...haha...can we say RETRO! Anyway they are only like a 8x10 ins., not big enough for much but I saved them anyway..you know what I'm talking about all you crafters..."DON'T THROW THAT OUT I CAN USE THAT FOR SOMETHING SOMEDAY!"
Well that day is here! My mom gave me a box of old zippers...mostly metal and mostly small....so I thought HUMMMM....I know something can me done with these, so I came up with the idea of these cute little wristlets.

The first one I listed on Etsy sold in like 3 minutes! I'm not kidding! How great is that :) But no worries...even though they are ONE OF A KIND I have several look alikes. Just take a peek at my Etsy shop to see.

just a little thought for today...True Wisdom

I just love the book of James...it has everything in it for understanding life. Here is just one passage that I think if we would all follow maybe things would be a bit better for all.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,then peaceable,gentle,willing to yield,full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Real wisdom, God's wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable,overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.

I often talk about how beautiful Pennsylvania is...I just thought I would share a little of that beauty with you.
On a drive this weekend (this is some of what my husband sees on his commute to work) We were in awe of God's beauty all around us and we both agreed "we wish everyone could see this". I dare say he has one of the most beautiful drives around...every season brings it's own special beauty but it is hard to beat the beauty of autumn!

I usually do a Awesome Etsy Artist once every 10 days or so...but I just could not resist in sharing this wonderful artist with you now.

The name of her shop name is JJ and Me Creations...she makes the cutes things for babies! I would like you to hear what she has to say in her own words about her baby,her craft and her life. She is stationed in Turkey right now (her hubby is in the military) and if you have been following the news our situation over there is quite tense. Read her story and lets try to help her out!

Here are her words...

My name is Alexa,
I am a Mother to 16 month old Jorja and a Military wife stationed in Turkey.
I have been sewing and painting for years but until now had no place to really sell my creations.
Thank you ETSY!

I have always loved sewing since my first quilt at 15. I then started making baby items for family and friends longing
for the day I would have my own child to sew for.
16 months ago I had her. MY perfect little girl I had longed for and waited so long for.

As I said before I am a military wife and right now we are living in Turkey.
The situation here is not the best at this time.
There has been talk of sending the family's back to the U.S.
If that is done we will be leaving everything behind except what we can fit in a suitcase. Possibly loosing everything
in our homes.
I am trying to sell what baby sets and gifts I have on Etsy. In case we have to leave so
I can have money to start over again.
It is a time of great stress in our lives. Do we continue with life as usual or do we have bags packed waiting for what may never come?
Also my husband would most likely have to stay behind. (scares me to death)
I know That our safety is the most important thing and I have finally come to terms with the possibility of loosing our possessions.
I have put so much time, money and effort in starting my business so I can stay home with my Daughter.
It breaks my heart to think of loosing everything.
So if you are having a baby or know someone who is in need a baby gift please keep my shop in mind.

Awesome Etsy Artist Feature

You all know the saying "It's a small world" well that even includes the wonderful world of Etsy. A few weeks back I received a very nice convo from someone right in my own back yard..to my surprise she went to school with my husband and his brother and knows my in-laws. I was so excited to know that I was not the only one in our neck-of-the-woods who is on Etsy.

I would like you to meet Cindy from cjoriginals...here are a few words she has to say on her love for all things vintage (we share the same love by the way :)).....

Well, I started my Etsy shop (July 2007) after my sister and niece started theirs and encouraged me to also. I love vintage linens...the colors, the feel and the memories....just seeing these items inspires me to recycle them into something else...others see a beautiful print tablecloth..I see a tote or a little girls coat and hat! To me this is a wonderful way to preserve Grandma's beloved linens and truly enjoy them everyday instead of putting them in a drawer hidden away.
My Grandmother was a seamstress in Smethport for MANY years, working until she was in her 80's and my mother made most all clothing for my sister and I when we were growing up..so I guess it runs in the family!!

The Birds of Summer

Even though Autumn is my favorite time of year it is bittersweet. Being a huge "Bird Nerd" family we are always so sad to see the Birds of Summer leave us. None leave the void like the Bluebirds...we have had families of Bluebirds nesting in our yard for most of the 27 years we have lived here.

We have even take it upon ourselves to name them...so I would like you to meet Rambo..(thats him in the picture)...we call him this because by far he is the most aggressive male we have had! He would take on any size bird that came near his house....he was a wonderful provider to his mate and babies.

The yellow warblers and the Baltimore Orioles have moved on...their bright colors no longer sparkle in the sun...the Cat bird no longer makes it's cry and the Kestrels have left the tree vacant.
But take heart..the chickadees and the goldfinches remain as well as the noisy Bluejays . Nuthatches are busy hording the sunflower seeds for winter and the Downey and Hairy woodpeckers are coming around for the suet (even though I can't put it out until the bear goes into hibernation!)

No matter what the color of the feathers...birds are still one of God's best ideas!

Bonghi Natura Now Open!

I Did It ...part III !

OK Don't laugh...although I am..haha...I figure why not start out with something hard...like a tiny little chipmonk (yes that's what it is) so I did...he's funny and my Kelsie growls at him but I'm sort of satisfied with the outcome...I think the next one will be a little bigger...haha

I am happy with the purse though...I think the little sparrow turned out ok. I'm thinking of listing it as soon as I can get it together. I found I love "painting" with wool :)

I'm off to get ready for my uncle's funeral :( ...he is a WWII vet...the proud generation...he stormed the beaches of Normandy...all for freedom!

Sorry to leave on a somber note...but it's not all bad..him and my aunt are singing with the angles in heaven together.

I'll keep you posted on more creations in wool!

I Did It ...part II !

HERE THEY ARE! The needles came yesterday from Maryjanesattic and today the fiber came from CatsWillEatYou today (it's like Christmas in my mailbox). The rainbow of colors are fabulous!

I love trying new crafts...and I have tried my share but I must say this one has my brain just spinning (ha). I have always loved the look and texture of wool fibers but since I don't knit I just figured I would have to admire them from afar...until...several months ago I saw a show on HGTV about needle felting and I thought ...hummm...I can paint, and I can sculpt and this was like a little combination of both so I decided I was going to give it a shot.

My first attempt is this little heart...I will use it on a tote or something in the future. It didn't turn out to bad if I must say so myself. I am going to try to combine my sewing and the felting to create some cool pieces.In my mind they are cool anyway..they will take some tweaking I'm sure but hey they have to start somewhere!
I'm off to give this a try (I should be working on orders but I just can't stand all the fun sitting there looking at me)

Awesome Autumn

What a beautiful day the Lord has made!! Kelsie (my little dog) and I have been enjoying the sun and blue sky,the warm breeze and falling leaves. The apples are still waiting for the frost that will make them just right to pick. I'm nearing the end of the tomatoes...finally... and cutting back some of the flowers.

I put some bread in the breadmaker before going out and when I came in the whole house has that wonderful baked bread aroma! I'm getting ready to start the veggie soup(from the garden of course)and then ...maybe...start something to list on Etsy!

Chickadee Silhouette Tote

Hot off the needles...and paint brush...I just love this bright and cheery tote.
It's a nice size for those quick trips where you don't need a big tote.
With all the great colors in it you can use it year round.

I used acrylic paint for the hand painted silhouette. The inside pocket is great for your small stuff so it has easy access.
